Shabu
Last night we went to Shabu in Irvine because the Ftn. Valley one was too packed (1 hr wait). Food is never as good there as in Ftn Valley. Some of the lettuce was bad, peanut sauce wasn't good, but we had a great time because Harry made us try Echigo beer from Japan. Really great.
Anyways, there was a guy (hapa-japanese) sitting near us and he was like a college student. Really loud and obnoxious. He was trying to "teach" this Mexican couple from Puerto Vallarta about Shabu and Japan but was being very loud about it. He asked for "training wheel" chopsticks. The worst part though was when he was saying Japan and China have original languages so they are very different. Then he said "but Vietnamese is a combination of English, French, and Chinese and it's not an original language and that's why it always sounds like they are shouting". He said this in a room full of Vietnamese food eaters.
We were not pleased by this man.
