Simply Unflappable

Has anyone actually seen a ROYAL FLUSH being played during a poker game?? I haven't. I bet Lasko wishes he had these cards in Vegas!!

A genuine Royal Flush! Unfortunately I was the one who had bet against that hand. Who would've thunk it??

I had an interesting weekend. Nothing I can place on a public blog. These were my most non-incriminating photos. Although if anyone else wanted to play poker, please, my house is mostly always open.

Cycle For Life!

Hey everyone,

I'm doing the Tour De Cure again. Please considering supporting this important cause. I will be doing the 100km ride in order to raise money for diabetes research.

Here's my link: Jessica's Page

Thanks!

Mommy's Birthday

So for my mother's birthday, my sister and I went to Sacramento to celebrate. See the Jet Blue blog post for details on our trip going there. The first night, I took my parents out for Scott's Seafood. It was quite good as you can see from the look on my mom's face:

Here is me with my parents (my sister came up that night on a different flight).

The next day my sister and I took my mother and three of her friends for tea.

Great tea house. Art Deco style. Lot's of charm and great service.

And that was that. It was fun, tiring, and all that jazz.

Valentine's Day

Happy Anniversary to all my V-Club friends. Unfortunately, Dan and Joy were in none of the pictures and Lesley was in almost all the pictures. I have no idea where pics of Dan and Joy went.

The origins of V-Club (a super secret society that everyone knows about):
2 years ago Lesley (my housemate) and I realized we had no plans on Valentine's for dinner. I called her up from work and said "Hey, want to go to dinner"? She gladly agreed. The inappropriateness of this exchange didn't dawn on us until we got to this restaurant and noticed that all around us there were lovey dovey couples. The menu also said something like "Love Dinner" and our rice came in the shape of a heart.

It was then we realized it was going to be a tough night.

Forward one year. Lesley and I still had no Valentines Day dates and we decided that Valentines 2006 was a year we would NOT make the same mistake. We invited our good friends, Dan and Joy Lam, and a whole bunch of other people for a dinner. Only Dan and Joy came. We had a GREAT dinner and a lot of food so I told my friend Justin, come NOW! He came only to find we ate all the food.
That marked the first V-Club meeting. No one else has been allowed in or out and one year later we are going strong (and still dateless--although I would like to stress this year it was BY CHOICE!). Magical words.
Love you guys!!

I Am Still In SoCal

What happened on my way home to my mom's birthday weekend? Please note, I did not do overtime, nor go rock climbing, nor do anything else productive last night due to waiting for this crap:

I was waiting for my flight from 7pm until 1pm. Around 9pm we all knew the flight was going to be cancelled as there were flights being cancelled left and right. We asked if we can get our refund so we can get home at a reasonable time or book a hotel. We were told if we cancel before the official cancellation we would not be refunded.

The reason? There was NO FLIGHT CREW. A flight crew is very important to fly. This has been happening, they said, for the last week d/t the weather. They needed to put the weather in as the fine print states "Jet Blue not responsible for concellations due to weather, et." NO FLIGHT CREW? I just think if you have a plane, and you have no flight crew and you knew that the flight crews were very delayed you would cancel sooner? Have optional flights? Release us?

There were also no more flights until saturday. This was horrible. I had to book on Southwest (something I really should have done ORIGINALLY) but it was $20 more. Now I spent $69 more.

JetBlue gave us our full refund saying they normally don't do this. Idiots. And no vouchers, etc. People were VERY upset. We waiting in line 45 more minutes for the refund when the computers broke down.

And now I am writing from my home, not going to work, losing my PTO, waiting for my flight to Sacramento on Southwest. Oh and my parents were waiting up until 12am for my call to pick them up. That sucks.

The moral? Always go on Southwest.

Also, does anyone know how to file a claim against JetBlue to get my Southwest money back? This payment was directly caused by them.

Jess: But how many of them will wear nice clothes?
Mom: Well, maybe we can do 1pm
Jess: 1:30 is fine. How many of your friends? Please listen to my question carefully.
Mom: You told me I can invite up to 5 friends!
Jess: so 5?
Mom: no, 3.
