I'll leave it at that because nothing I say can do justice to his thoughtful writing style, his wit, his observations of life. There I go trying to do justice. I just can't. You can check out his books River Town and Oracle Bones which are the two I can recommend as those are the two I've read, or rather, I'm reading Oracle Bones right now and it's superb.

In Our Town one of my favorite quotes goes "Do any human beings realize life while they live it?" "No, poets and saint's, maybe. They do some". Peter Hessler seems to fit into that category. He seems to really be observing life. I'm romanticizing it, but he notices things in the mundane and makes it poignant. Okay, that might be a little more justice.

I feel like I should give an update on my life. It's been busy, but I'm not sure if it's been meaningfully busy the last few days/weeks, and thus I'm not sure I have anything to report. I kinda feel like I want to be in that REM song where everyone walks out of their car on the freeway because we're all just feeling the same thing...not that bad I guess because the song is rather suicidal and I just want everyone to walk out together on the freeway. C'mon, whose with me?! Let's go walking!

I will not be marrying Peter Hessler. He is married. How do I know that? I GOT A LETTER FROM HIM! Amazing. Simply amazing. The letter was long and thoughtful. I can't believe how thoughtful he is! Wow. Okay, it's a keepsake. Yay!
